Dr Suzanne Aspden discusses the tragic but ultimately triumphant life of singer and actress Susannah Cibber who sang in the premiere of Handel’s Messiah in Dublin.

Handel and Durastanti: Their Relationship and Music
In this lecture-recital, Dr Barbara Diana and Bridget Cunningham (harpsichord) will explore Durastanti’s career and her relationship with Handel through the roles he wrote especially for her.
