Handel and Durastanti: Their Relationship and Music

The singer Margherita Durastanti can claim one of the longest collaborations with Handel.  They met in Rome in 1708, worked together in Venice and finally in London until 1734.  In this lecture-recital, Dr Barbara Diana amd Bridget Cunningham (harpsichord) will explore Durastanti's career and her relationship with Handel through the roles he wrote especially for her.  Dr Barbara Diana is a performer and music writer who has worked extensively on the Gerald Coke Handel Collection at The Foundling Museum.
