Handel and Politics (SOLD OUT)
Sunday 16 November, 3pm - 4.30pm including a short interval with refreshments.
When Handel arrived in London in 1710, Britain was in a state of political upheaval. It was the first European county to have the beginnings of defined political parties. Handel, at the center of public life, was astute in maintaining an independant position. Roger Sydenham examines some of Handel's compositions in the context of a volatile society. Live music will be provided by Sarah Moule (soprano) and Bridget Cunningham (harpsichord). Booking opens 11 August.
